Obituary

 

Lakeview – Jack Lee Nielsen, age 80, of Lakeview, passed away May 30, 2017 at Fred and Lena Meijer Heart Center in Grand Rapids, MI. Jack was born June 21, 1936, on his family farm in Coral, near Five Corners, the son of Ralph and Margaret (Miles) Nielsen. He attended a country school in Pine Twp. and then Lakeview High School. Jack ran his own Dairy and Cattle Farm. He was employed by Clemens in Grand Rapids and Packer Land in WI, as a truck driver his whole life until retiring at the age of 70. After knowing each other for twenty years, Jack married Julie Ann Henderson, in 2008, at the top of Brady Hill. His many hobbies included watching sports, horses, hunting, fishing, cattle, his egg route, and he loved his dogs. Jack enjoyed life and had a wonderful sense of humor. He was a member of the NRA, and the National Cattleman’s Association.

 

Jack will be missed by his wife Julie Ann Nielsen of Lakeview; two children Jacqueline (Jim) Fase of Rockford, and Peter Stewart (Amy) Nielsen of Greenville; two step-sons Jeromie (Amy Jo) Foote, and Adam (Amy) Foote both of Snover; one daughter-in-law Mary T. Pasque of Detroit; grandchildren Megan, Kelly Jo, Carrie, Jamie, Daniel, Elizabeth, Patrick, Hollie, Katie, and Margaret “Maggie”; four step-grandchildren Haileigh, Nicolas, Alex, and Mitchell Foote; fifteen great-grandchildren; siblings Larry (Norma) Nielsen of Lakeview, Jim “Ralph” (Nancy) Nielsen of Blanchard, Gary (Lauri) Nielsen of Coral, Julie (Norman) Smith of Stanton; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

 

Jack was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Margaret Nielsen; one son Patrick James Nielsen in Sept. 2011; grandson baby James Patrick Nielsen; great-granddaughter Charlotte Noele Fase; and one sister Kay Hough-Brandt.

 

Funeral services for Jack will be Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 2:00 PM, with visitation at 1:00, at Brigham Funeral Chapel in Lakeview, MI with Pastor Ted Johnson officiating. The family will accept friends on Friday, June 2, 2017 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral home. Those wishing to contribute in Jack’s memory are asked to consider the Montcalm County 4-H Building Fund or to the family.  A luncheon at New Life United Methodist Church will follow the graveside service in West Pine Cemetery.
