Donald Edward Abbey




Lakeview - Donald Edward Abbey passed on to his eternal home on September 12, 2017.


 Don passed away peacefully at home with family by his side.  He was born to his parents William and Elvira (Raglin) Abbey in Lakeview on April 21, 1927.  Don spent most of his 90 years in Lakeview. Don graduated from Lakeview High School Class of 1945.


Don married Betty Rodebaugh at the United Church of Christ on June 11,1950.  That union lasted 67 years, and brought the couple six children, and all of his children survive him. Ginger (late Jim Imhoff), Candy (late Thomas Enbody), both of Lakeview, Barbara (R.J. Bailey) of Lehigh Acres FL, Patricia (Jack Strand) of Traverse City, Billie Jean (late John Cavalli) of Ellensburg WA, and Donald Jr. of Lakeview.  Grandchildren: Abbey Jean Enbody (Tim) of Grand Rapids, Max Bell of Lakeview, Robert Enbody (Stephanie) of St. Clair, Brooke Enbody of Farwell, Raymon Grigg of Denver, CO, Carson Abbey of Lakeview, Tom (Martha) Enbody, Lee (Kathy) Enbody, Bud Enbody all of Greenville.  Great-grandchildren:  Olivia, Hailey, Emily & Chase Enbody, Isabel, Cecelia & Hudson Enbody, Kelly Gibson.


Don's sister Gloria Dishong of Charlevoix survives him, and he was preceded in death by his brother Gordon Abbey and sister Donna Jean Farrell.


Don spent his entire life as an avid outdoorsman, enjoying daily fishing, hunting, and trapping, also scoring high in State of Michigan in trap/skeet shooting competitions. He was a member of the United Church of Christ in Lakeview.


The family will hold a private graveside service at a later date.
