Michigan “Mick” Shelly
of Greenville MI, aged 86, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, August 20, 2016 at Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids. He was born on born on October 04,
He is survived by his children, Teresa (Dan) Davison of Greenville, Thomas (Stacy) Shelly of Battle Creek and Cathy (Randall) McQuillin of Corunna, his dearly loved 11 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren, and his sisters, Mable Hudson of Six Lakes and Susie (Larry) Kujovich of Illinois, many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his first wife Joan Hopkins.
He was preceded in death by his two sons, Bruce and Mitchell Shelly, his mom and dad, Frank and Marguerite (Griffiths) Shelly, and 14 siblings; Glen, Peter, Argie, Clayton, Marie, Phillis, Cecil, Elwood, Robert, Peggy, Acel, Berneice, Joseph and Hollis.
Mick was born in
Belvidere Twp. He grew up in Six Lakes and Howell (Cohoctah) MI, where eventually he helped to raise 5 children. He made his way back to Six Lakes for retirement.
Mick could always be seen with a smile on his face and many times singing old gospel songs while working away. He was an original “jack of all trades” man. If it was broken, he could get it going again in no time. His 1929 Model A Ford and Coon Hunting were his greatest hobbies. His grandchildren always made him smile.
He was remembered at a service held at Brigham Chapel in Six Lakes, MI on Sunday, August 21st, 2016 at 3:00 pm.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the support from the Area Agency on Aging, the staff of Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital Orthopedic floor and the care of Faith Hospice.
