James D. Imhoff, age 82 of Lakeview, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Spectrum Health – Butterworth Campus. Jim was born in Lakeview on June 2, 1933 to Carl and Mae (Jensen) Imhoff. He was a loving man with a servant heart who delighted in helping others. Jim served in the U.S. Army and reached the rank of Staff Sergeant. Upon returning from the service, Jim married his first love Thelma M. Edgar on October 23, 1955. Having been a local business owner and serving for decades on the Lakeview Volunteer Fire Department where he held the rank of Fire Chief for many years, Jim was a well known and loved member of the Lakeview community. After the passing of his beloved wife Thelma on October 8, 1996, Jim later found a new love. He married Ginger R. Bell on April 18, 1997.
Jim left behind his wife Ginger; his 7 children David (Amanda) Imhoff, Kevin (Ruth) Imhoff, Susan (Mitch) Olson, Aaron (Julie) Imhoff, Jim (Melissa) Imhoff, Abbey (Tim) Enbody, and Max Bell; his 19 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren through whom his loving nature, kind heart, and Imhoff “scowl” will carry on for generations to come. Jim’s surviving siblings are Elaine (Duane) Ingraham, Larry (Mary) Imhoff, Chuck (Joan) Imhoff, Don (Pat) Imhoff, Bob (Jackie) Imhoff, as well as his brother in law Erik Olsen and sister in law Rosemary Imhoff.
He was preceded in death by his parents Carl, Mae, and Freda Imhoff, his sisters June Olsen and Gayla Nance, and his brother Lee “Bud” Imhoff.
Services for Jim will be Sunday, January 10, 2016 at 4:00 P.M. at Lakeview Community Church 8980 Howard City-Edmore Rd, Lakeview, Michigan 48850. Visitation will be held Saturday, January 9, 2016 from 4 – 6 pm at the church and on Sunday, January 10, from 2-3:30 pm. A Luncheon will take place following the service.
