My dad started working at Millards when in 1973, so I've known Elaine, Greg, and Scott almost all my life. I know a lot of people hated Elaine from plain old jealousy: she was rich and they weren't.
But those people have no idea how hard and how many hours Elaine worked to get where she was. More than one person has told me of how she carried one end of a couch or hide-a-bed when no one else was
around to do it. A LOT of people were able to buy their first furniture and appliances (and establish a credit rating) because Elaine was willing to take a chance on them. A lot of young men that
others wouldn't have employed got their first job working as her delivery boys. She was burned many times but she kept on putting her faith in her fellow man. I rode with her to a Republican event
and she talked of how she scrimped when she and Red started out. She told me of living in the attic apartment over their first store and how she found the prettiest pictures in the newspaper to use
as wallpaper and how a shet with a hole worn in the middle became curtains. How many people have the inner strength to do that today? In spite of those lean early years Elaine never gave up, and she
always remembered what it was like to go without. She didn't toot her own horn, but there were a lot of worthy causes she gave her money to ananamously. She once told my mom of how a family or two
would spend all day Saturday in the Langston bar and leave their kids waiting in the car. Elaines first store was in Langston, she saw it happening, and a couple of times she bought the kids small
icecream cones despite the money being short. I've sometimes wondered if those kids remembered her generosity. I wonder how long all of us will remember it. Godspeed Elaine. You stayed cheerful in
spite of all the pain of life over the years and I hope to hear you laugh again someday after the archangels sounds his trumpet.

Good day! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering if you knew where I could find a captcha plugin for my comment form? I'm using the same blog platform as yours and I'm having problems
    finding one? Thanks a lot!
