Wilfred Elton Crooks


Wilfred Elton Crooks, age 95, of Stanton passed away on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at Laura’s Loving Acres in Stanton.  He was born on October 21, 1918, in Edmore, Michigan, the son of Gilbert and Nina (Cross) Crooks.  He was raised in the McBride area and graduated from the McBride School in 1936.


Wilfred married the love of his life, Thelma Bernice Camp on November 4, 1939.  Thelma passed in 2008 after 68+ years of marriage.  Wilfred, a successful life-long farmer, thoroughly enjoyed farming and horses. Wilfred attended the Entrican Bible Church.


Wilfred is survived by his children:  Joyce Pollard of Grand Haven, Sheryl (Ed) Tucker of Grand Rapids and Randall (Kelly) Crooks of Vestaburg; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. 


Wilfred was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Nina; a son, Dennis Crooks; a daughter, Dawn Crooks; and three grandsons:  Damon and Nathan Crooks, sons of Dennis Crooks and Andrew Crooks, son of Randall Crooks and two brothers:  Charles and Donald Crooks.


A funeral service to celebrate Wilfred’s life will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street in Edmore with Pastor Eugene Kooi officiating.   A visitation has been scheduled from 10 to 11 a.m. (one hour prior to the service) on June 21. Interment will be in Vinewood Cemetery.
