Marshall David Abbott, Jr.


Marshall David Abbott, Jr. age 83, of Riverdale passed away at the Warwick Living Center on Friday March 28, 2014.  Marshall was born to Marshall and Marjorie (Black) Abbott at their home in Lincoln Township.  Marshall was raised in and attended school in the Shepherd area. He graduated from Shepherd High School in 1949. Marshall married his lovely wife, Violet Vay on June 30, 1951 in Rosebush Michigan.


Marshall worked at Consumer’s Power and retired from the Gas Division in 1991. He also worked for Consumer’s Power as a Meter Reader and a Meter Installation Specialist with more than three decades under his belt.


Marshall enjoyed farming, carpentry, collecting pedal trucks, Tonka toys and Consumers trucks. Marshall also enjoyed spending time with family and time in Florida with his wife, Violet.


Marshall is survived by his wife, Violet; children: Michall David (Karen) Abbott of Riverdale, Martin Dean (Tami) Abbott of Albany, Georgia, Marsha Diane (Lonnie) Divelbiss of Apache Junction, Arizona, Michelle Denise (Brian) Vaughn of Vestaburg; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sister, Lois (Tony) Hoffman of St. Helen and numerous nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him a greatly.


Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall and Marjorie and a sister, Vera Barnhart.


A funeral service for Marshall will be held Monday, March 31, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Brigham Funeral Chapel, 6055 Howard City Edmore Road, Vestaburg with Pastor George Showers officiating.  A luncheon will be held after the service at the Seville Community Church of God. A visitation for Marshall will be held Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Vestaburg Brigham Funeral Chapel.
