Kathleen “Tappy” Jean Martin

 

 

Kathleen "Tappy" Jean Martin, age 63,of Lapeer passed away on Sunday, December 7, 2014 at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.  She was born in Edmore, Michigan on August 5, 1951, the daughter of Eugene and Charleene Wood.  She was raised in Six Lakes and graduated from Edmore High School and continued her education at  Baker College.

 

Kathleen married her loving husband of 28 years, George Albert Martin on July 24, 1993.  Due to their 30 year age difference, people told them it wouldn’t last, however they had been together for 28 years and married for over 21 years.  As a home maker, she enjoyed sewing, quilting, traveling with her husband.  She especially loved being a grandmother.

 

Kathleen is survived by her husband, George of Lapeer; her daughters:  Chariti Withey of Six Lakes and Mindi Hill of Barryton; grandchildren:  Tristen and Bryce Withey and Keegan and Konor Hill; her siblings: Kylle and Neil Wood; step-children:  Robert Martin, William Martin, Carol Nunez, Marilyn Martin, Wayne Martin and Bradley Martin and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.

 

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Charleene; grandchildren:  Chance and Brianna Whitman and a sister, Pauleene Parker.

 

A funeral service has been scheduled for Kathleen on Thursday, December 11 at 3 p.m. at the Brigham Funeral Chapel, 413 E. Gilson Street, Edmore with Pastor Mike Riegler officiating.  The family will receive the support of friends and extended family members at a visitation scheduled for scheduled for Wednesday, December 10, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday, December 11, 2014 from 2 to 3 p.m. (1 hour prior to the service) also at the Brigham Funeral Chapel in Edmore.  Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery.

 

In lieu of a memorial contribution, the family suggests a “pay it forward” gesture in Kathleen’s honor.
