James Ira Male
James Ira Male, age 76, of Lakeview, passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2014 at his home. James was born December 7, 1937 in Grand Rapids, the son of Raymond and Verna (Thompson) Bush. He was raised in Lakeview and the surrounding area and attended Morley High School. James attended R.E.T.S. Electrical School. He was employed for forty three years at Thorne Apple Valley Meats as a Hilo Repairman and a Forman until his retirement in 2000.
James married his wife of forty five years, Sharon Lynn VanSlyke, in 1969, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He enjoyed fishing, camping, and his hobby farm (especially his Charolais cows). James could fix anything and he loved John Deer Tractors which he put in the tractor shows in Blanchard. He also loved his motorcycles – Indian, Honda, and Harley. James was a member of the Common Ground Church in Six Lakes, the AFLCIO and the Teamster’s Unions.
James will be deeply missed by his wife, Sharon Male of Lakeview; three daughters: Tammy Moore (Butch Miesiaczek) of Pierson, Denise Male (Mark Bigelow) of Morley and Dawn Male of Lakeview; one grand-daughter Keesha Bates of Sand Lake; four siblings: Beatrice (Duke) Gale of Lakeview, Vernon “Fudd” (Kate) Male of Greenville, Hazel (Del) Finup of Lakeview and Rachel (Bob) Welch of Lakeview and many nieces, nephews and friends.
James was preceded in death by both parents, Raymond and Verna Bush and two brothers: Leslie and John Male.
Services for James will be Friday, April 25, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Common Ground Church in Six Lakes, Michigan with Pastor Paula Estell officiating. The family will receive friends at the church during a visitation on Thursday, April 24, 2014 from 5 to 8 p.m. A luncheon will be held at the church following the service. Memorial contributions in James’ name may be made to the family or to the Common Ground Church.
