Doris Jean Hopkins
Doris Jean Hopkins, age 84, of Elm Hall passed away at her home on Friday, April 11, 2014. Doris was born on October 22, 1929 in Hart Michigan, the daughter of Arlo and Ivah (Morrow) Tanner. Doris was raised in and attended school in the Frankfort area and graduated in 1948.
On June 14, 1952, Doris married the love of her life, George S. Hopkins in Reed City, Michigan. She was employed as a cook, bartender and waitress for 27 years at the Riverdale Tavern, retiring in 1991. Doris has always enjoyed watching the Detroit Tigers. She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and her cat, JuJu.
Doris is survived by her children: George (Linda) Hopkins of Elm Hall, Cleo (Goldie) Hopkins of Shepherd, James (Illene) Hopkins of Mesick and Ellen Towne (Ben Murphy) of Orleans; 12 grandchildren and numerous great- grandchildren who will all miss her greatly.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband, George who passed on January 13, 1965; her parents, Arlo and Ivah; three brothers: Jim, Bob and Bill.
Per the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no services have been scheduled at this time.
Memorial contributions in Doris’s name may be made payable to Ellen Towne to assist with expenses.
